Production Basics

Move beyond the intro phase and master the art of the perfect 3D print. Learn how to troubleshoot, adjust settings, and get professional, high-quality results every time.

What to Expect

Class Overview

Production Basics is the next step in your 3D printing experience, designed for students ready to bridge the gap between a 'finished' print and a 'perfect' print.

In this intermediate 3D printing class, we dive deep into the world of Bambu Studio (slicing software) to understand how internal structures, support placement, and cooling speeds affect your final results.

This is where you learn the true mechanics of the workflow. We’ll cover how to diagnose common failures, adjust settings for different materials like PETG and TPU, and ensure your functional parts are both strong and mechanically accurate.

Our goal is to give you total control over the printing process so you can stop wasting filament on failed prints and start producing high-quality, reliable parts that you can be proud of.

What You'll Learn:

  • Advanced Slicing: Master shell thickness, infill patterns, and complex support structures in Bambu Studio.

  • Troubleshooting: How to identify and fix common print failures like warping, stringing, and layer shifts.

  • Material Properties: Understanding when and how to use different materials like PLA, PETG, and flexible TPU.

  • Precision Calibration: Techniques for ensuring perfect first layers and dimensionally accurate parts.

  • Post-Processing: Best practices for removing supports and finishing your objects for a professional look.

Who This Class Is For

Level-1 Grads

Those who complete our Intro class and are ready to take the next step toward mastering 3D printing.

Experienced Printers

Hobbyists of 3D printing but are struggling with failed prints, poor surface quality, or technical hurdles.

Functional Creators

Students and creators who want to print parts that are structurally sound and fit together with precision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to complete Intro to 3D Printing (Level 1) first?

Yes. To ensure all students have a foundational understanding of our studio’s Bambu Lab hardware and safety protocols, Level 1 is a prerequisite for this class.

Can I bring a failed print from home to discuss?

Absolutely! We encourage students to bring examples of their printing challenges so we can diagnose the issue together using the troubleshooting techniques taught in class.

What software will we be using?

We focus on Bambu Studio, the industry-leading slicing software. The skills you learn here are easily transferable to other slicers like OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer.

Will we be printing with materials other than PLA?

Yes. In Level 2, we discuss the settings and hardware requirements for printing with PETG and flexible TPU filament, which are essential for functional parts.

Is this class suitable for younger students?

Level 2 involves more technical software work. We recommend it for students ages 10+ who have a strong interest in technology and have completed Level 1.
